Splitboarding the length of Chile and Argentina

Ski after ski we slowly slide uphill, all the time between the trees but gaining ground on our goal;  the remote peak of Volcan Quetripillan.

Three of my favourite North Lakes road bike routes

These three routes all pass through Keswick but take in a very varied selection roads, which I feel show what this area is all about. They also pose a challenge containing all of the hardest road passes in the Lake District.

Winter bike clothing reviewed

I have been riding almost everyday through winter blizzards, gales, heavy rain and most things the Lake District weather can throw at me. So I thought I would share the secret to staying warm, dry and therefore motivated.

Cheap bike lights direct from China – Are they any good?

It seems that the latest LED bike lights get brighter and last longer every year, but the cost of branded front bike lights always stay pretty high. Therefore a few years back I decided to buy some front and rear bike lights direct from China at ridiculously cheap prices to test them out

2014: A crazy beautiful year in 12 pictures

We started 2014 in Chamonix, France where we had been for the last year, but we had literally no idea what lay in store for us: little did we know we would visit 23 countries, we would snowboard some of the deepest steepest lines yet, attempt Mt Blanc on splitboard….and fail, but succeed in cycling 10,000km+ in 20 countries – some of which I didn’t know existed, Ed would avoid shipwreck

It was hard to tell before the army of porters harassed me, offering to carry my bike, I pointed out that it was a bike therefore inherently it didn’t really need carrying.

It would be hard to visit Kolkata and not to leave with a changed perception of the world. It is a city of contrasts and one that wears its history on its sleeve.

However if you take a short detour off to the side roads then you can find some truly extraordinary adventures, like this short cycle tour around Darjeeling:

MSR Dragonfly Stove Review

We arrived home last week tired and exhausted after our transcontinental cycle tour. After five months away we were both glad to be back in the safe, hygienic surrounds that we take for granted in the UK. All our bags and my bike eventually arrived on the luggage belt at Heathrow and despite being the very last out it all looked safe and sound. After we got back to my parents there was one more surprise in store.

Why I’m addicted to cycle touring

It was an atmospheric twilight in central Uzbekistan, the orange glow was slowly fading into the dust filled air and the encroaching darkness of night added mystery to the towering roadside skeleton trees in my rural surroundings.

Trekking the stunning Langtang Valley in Nepal

I expected trekking the Langtang valley in Nepal to be a peaceful stroll along a wide open himalayan valley. However we started by descending into dense jungle.
