Biking in Utah and Colorado

After a great winter in Canada we drove our Jeep down south for 36 hours across the USofA
headed for the sun.

Yep we were headed for some mountain biking in the world famous Moab in UTAH. And yes it lived up to expectations. The pick of the MTB trails for me were; Slick rock, porcupine rim and portal trail just for how scary it is any trail with a death toll sign deserves respect! Fianlly I enjoyed the local town trail called pipe dream.

This is the view from the incredible Porcupine Rim trail, this trail is simply stunning from begining to end. It is a must ride before you die trail, but push too hard in sections and it might be the last trail you ride! The view from Porcupine Rim trail in Moab

Moab is not just about biking, there are some ace petroglyphs just some of Moab town centre. Looks like they had a pretty funky time back then!PetroglyphsDead Horse Point, great views, not so great for horses.DSC03104

We drove down Green River and stopped by a camp spot that has been the setting of many a fine western. It is certianly scenery fitting for the big screen and the Hollywood treatment.

The protected parks here lack imagination in name (Think arches National park, where there are lots of arches, think dead horse point where lots of horses died etc.) but not lacking in the landscape department. Here are the 3 Gossips in Arches National Park Utah:

Delicate Arch is the famous Arch of the 1000’s in Utah, it is even on the license plates so must be famous.Delicate Arch

After leaving Moab and Utah our second stop was to call by the mighty Colorado river near Fruita, Colorado. The Kokopelli trails were awesome, miles of perfect dry dusty single track, well worth a visit.Fruita, CO
